An SDSU alum, Barry Dunn has been the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences at SDSU for the past 5 years. From 2004-2010, Dunn served on the faculty of the Texas A&M system, developing a Ranch Management graduate program in cooperation with King Ranch of Kingsville, Texas. Prior to his time in Texas, Dunn was on the faculty of SDSU in the Animal and Range Science Dept.
Dunn’s family is from the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota and following graduation from SDSU, he and his wife Jane spent 17 years managing his family’s cattle ranch on the Rosebud. He has also farmed and raised cattle on their farm in Brookings, SD.
Considered an expert in range livestock production systems, Dunn has both practical and academic experience in rangeland ecology and livestock production.
